Proclaiming the unchanging Gospel of Jesus Christ!

This month's featured artist is Giotto di Bondone.

Giotto di Bondone (1267-1337) is recognized as the first genius of Renaissance art and was heralded by Dante as the leading artist of his day. Giotto’s work was first and foremost meant to be devotional. His brilliance as an artist is his ability to get at the heart of whatever episode from sacred history he was representing; to cut it down to its essential, dramatic core; and to express its innermost spiritual meaning.

This Lent we are recommending a series of Giotto’s frescoes painted on the wall of the Cappella Scrovegni (Arena Chapel) in Padua, Italy. These frescoes represent scenes from the life of Christ and span the time from His birth to His ascension. As such, they offer a beautiful and reflective way for you to walk with Christ through His life, ministry, passion, and Easter triumph. I encourage you to make the contemplation of these paintings a part of your Lenten devotion.
